The party ventured down into the hold and found that the main hold was full of overturned boxes and barrels. Evan David spotted a door to the north and opened it revealing an shrine with a solitary shield laying on the altar. Upon examination, the shield had a single blinking eye affixed to the middle of the shield.

The party continued south and explored the main hold with the overturned boxes and barrels. Suddenly a horde of Merrows and Sharks swam in from a hole in the hull of the ship and attacked!

Two Sahuagin Shamanesses then swam down from the ceiling in the shrine room and also attacked! The Sahuahgin shamanesses yelled:

“You have defiled our shrine, now you will die!”

The battle was engaged on multiple fronts with the Merrow and Sharks attacking the party in the main hold with the Sahuagin Shamanesses attacking in the shrine. The sharks clumsily missed Evan David multiple times, but the Merrows were much more proficient with their attacks and blows. The party dealt first with the Sahuagin Shamanesses and then converged on the Merrows and Sharks.

Drawn out by the noise of the battle, two Sahuagin Champions exited from the room to south and stood guard outside the door. The two Sahuahgin champions urged the Merrows and Sharks on while they remained to guard the room.

Seeing that the battle was being lost, the two Sahuagin Champions left their post and moved forward to join the battle. Kaelen cleverly cast Misty Step to locate himself on the other side of the Merrows.

Kaelen is granted an inspiration for strategic thinking.

The party continued their attacks on all fronts and eventually defeated the Merrows, Sharks, and Sahuagin Champions.

Acanthodoris once again went and decapitated each Sahuagin to show to the Jarl upon their return.

Acanthodoris then went to retrieve his spent bolts and Galo smartly cast Mend on the broken bolts allowing Acanthodoris to retrieve more bolts.

Galo is granted an inspiration for teamwork.

The party took a short rest and continued south into the chamber that that the Sahuagin Champions were defending. The party was surprised to find that the chamber held a pocket of breathable air with four prisoners gagged and bound on the floor. The party freed the prisoners and questioned them. The party discovered that the prisoners were:

  • Westra Rimewave – Westra is a fisherwoman from Fiskrbak; wife to Taman and mother to Bern. She was captured off the coast of Gundarlun whilst fishing with her family.
  • Kwa’Efe Yolako – Kwa’efe came to the Sword Coast with a party of adventurers in search for a cure to a strange affliction plaguing his homeland. After losing his friends in a fight with a hoard of undead, Kwa’Efe took to the seas to explore this new land and write songs of happier times.
  • Tharilea Nailo – Tharilea was engaged on a solo voyage around the Island Kingdoms, the aim of which was to map the coastlines of said islands in more detail. She was captured whilst surveying Gundarlun from their keelboat. Tharilea is a member of the Emerald Enclave, who are concerned about the wildlife of the Gundarlun being warped by something alien.
  • Luth ‘Hubris’ Gurdman – Luth was a pirate aboard a ship named The Stormfast. The crew were visiting Gundarlun for a few days to restock supplies. After a few ales at The Crow’s Nest Tavern, Luth attempted to row out to a rock way offshore to win 3gp in a wager. Being slightly inebriated at the time, Luth capsized, and woke up here.

The party then noticed that there was a treasure chest in the room along with four stones in each corner of the room. Upon further investigation, the party noticed that each stone was inscribed with a symbol they did not recognize.

After questioning the prisoners, the party examined the chest. They tried unsuccessfully a couple of times to pick the lock.

Galo swung his Warhammer to destroy the lock and knocked the lock clean off the chest, Unfortunately, the chest still would not open.

The party then decided to return to Fiskrbak and planned to escort the prisoners as they swam up.

Evan David tied a rope around the chest and prepared to lug it up to the surface. The prisoners and the party left the chamber, but on the way out the party collected the rocks that were in each corner of the chamber. Once the rocks were gathered together, the air bubble dispersed.

Evan David is awarded an inspiration for his idea of transporting the chest.

Everyone left the chamber and as Evan David took the chest out of the air bubble, it popped open revealing five parcels wrapped in fine silk. The party gathered the parcels up and swam to the surface.

The party returned to Fiskrbak and showed the Sahuagin heads to Jarl Frostgale. Jarl Frostgale rejoiced and called for a celebration in honour of the party and their heroic deeds.
