The party discussed what they would do with the stone tablets. They finally agreed that now was not the time to retrieve the tablets and would come back for them at a later date and time.
They cautiously moved on to the next room and saw three eels swimming gracefully between the pillars. They decided quickly to attack and killed the electric eels with little difficulty. Tarin decided to harvest some of eel meat for a future meal before he moved on.
Evan David moved forward to open a door to the north and interrupted three vampire triplets engaged in an archery competition. The party attacked the vampires after surmising that these were probably vampire spawn of Mei Ling.
The battle was ferocious witheach side trading blows until the party finally decimated the vampires and left a pile of muddy ashes behind. The party explored the room and pillaged the valuable hand crossbows that adorned the back wall.
The party explored the rest of the upper floor and found nothing else of interest. They decided to swim back to Mintern.
In Mintern, Stormlord Arden informed the party that they would first return back to Neverwinter to inform Len Jes that they had found the cause of the lack of mercenaries and had resolved it.
The voyage back to Neverwinter was uneventful. They informed Len Jes that they had resolved the issue with the lack of mercenaries and set off for Waterdeep. The voyage again was uneventful due to the skill of their captain.
Stormlord Arden docked the ship and the party was greeted to Waterdeep by the harbour master with an open palm. The party correctly surmised that the clink of coins were required for a welcome and were granted passage after a donation.
The party decided to first explore the House of the Moon to determine if anyone there might have the skills to repair the cube. They discovered that the House of the Moon was a chapel to Selune and was a healing house for lycanthropes. Melessa Suaril welcomed them in and asked if anyone had the power to removes curses. The party informed them that they did not and they decided to take their leave and visit Blackstaff tower.
The party was disappointed that Blackstaff Tower was no longer a home to magic, but rather the home to an elite force that was protecting Waterdeep. The party left disappointed and decided to first visit a gambling house before finding an Inn. The repairing of the cube would need to again wait.
The party made their way to the High Flagon Gambling House and they all waited outside except for Evan David to wanted to try his luck at a couple of games of cards.
They didn’t have to wait long. Evan David returned quickly with less gold and no desire to let everyone know about his experiences.
The party finally moved on to the Inn of the Dripping Daggar and were surprised that the door offered a prophecy as they walked past:
“The shark that walks will rise from the deep,
One moon, one sun, the city will weep.”
The owner, Westfray Lohthuntle, informed the party that was known to happen. The party walked past the door again, but no further messages were provided. The party correctly determined that the prophecy intimated something happening tomorrow.
The party spent some time listening to the stories being shared and heard a couple of patrons mention that they saw hooded figures row out to Deepwater Beacon and drop a chest into the water. The patrons did not know what it meant, but they agreed it was very odd.
The party was just about to retire to their rooms when they saw a distraught solitary young man, Haseid Zulpair, sitting by himself in the corner. They asked the young man about his troubles and he shared that he was seduced and robbed of a family heirloom and he doesn’t know how he is going to tell his father. He shared that his father is a wealthy nobleman – Pasha Zulpair. He also shared that the family heirloom was a jeweled conch.
Haseid shared the tale of a lovely young woman he met. They spent the night talking and drinking and left to walk down the alley to retire to his residence. He awoke in the morning still in the alley with the conch and the woman gone,.
They party was unsure of what they could do to help the young man, so took their leave they retired to their room. They were roused in the morning by a clamour and disturbance.
Just as the sun rose above the horizon, the streets of Waterdeep were assaulted with the blasting of horns. A cacophonous, raucous chorus echoes throughout the docks.
Suddenly, jumping up from beneath the still waters of Deepwater Harbour came dozens of piscine creatures. The humanoids have shark-like mouths with row upon row of serrated teeth. Bloodcurdling screams of fear followed the sounding of conch shells as the inhabitants of the docks are ravaged by the sea devils.
The party rushed to the harbour.
