The party rushed to the harbour and leaped over the bodies of the harbour workers that had been killed by the Sahuagin. As they approached the end of the docks they saw the ship leaving with kidnapped citizens of Waterdeep while the remaining Sahuagin dove beneath the surface towards the Deepwater Beacon. The party noticed that the prow of the ship and flag bore the sigil of the Kraken Society.

Judging that they would be unable to catch the ship, the party decided to dive after the Sahuagin. Kaelyn stopped to down a potion of water breathing and the party dove to follow the Sahuagin.

After searching the ocean floor near the Deepwater Beacon, the party discovered an isolated cavern entrance with coral growing all around. A few stray coins lie scattered around the entrance but were slowly being dragged toward it by a current which pulls into the cave. The party saw that there was a patrol of giant Sea Horses and Merfolk guarding the entrance.

The party moved to attack and were able to defeat the patrol easily behind the magic of Kaelyn,

Kaelyn is awarded an inspiration.

The party swam into the sea cave the walls begin to close in around them. After swimming for a few dozen feet, the passage suddenly opened into an enormous sunken chamber with fist-sized crystals covering the walls. The centre of the chamber spiraled down like a vortex to a rocky bottom punctured with a gaping hole. A strong current pulls the seawater toward the fissure.

The party saw that there were three Sea Wraiths guarding the fissure at the bottom of the chamber and then suddenly an Aquatic Bearded Devil formed in front of their eyes. Acanthodoris realized that the Acquatic Bearded Devil was summoned when the party didn’t say a prayer when entering Umberlee’s Cache. The party attacked the Sea Wraiths and Aquatic Bearded Devil and were able to quickly dispatch them.

The part explored the base on the cavern and found a potion of water breathing and +1 Scimitar which they took with them.

The party also successfully avoided the currents when they swam that were dragging seawater into the fissure. Everyone except Acanthodoris that is. Acanthodoris swam over the fissure and was dragged down and then spit out 60 feet up before he swam back to the party.

Kaelyn explored the room to the north west and found that it appeared to be a shrine. Acanthodoris and Galo swam over to help investigate.

Dimly lit by glowing purple anemones, this small shrine contained an altar upon which offerings had been placed, and two stone statues of krakens covered in thin sheet-like seaweed and barnacles. Hanging over the altar were a pair of crossed tridents.

Kaelyn, Acanthodoris, and Galo decided to smartly leave the offerings in place and move on.

Evan David explored the room to the south and discovered that it appeared to be a hall.

A short stone corridor led to a beautifully decorated hall. Eight pillars sculpted into coral-like forms led up to a vaulted ceiling which was decorated with shell motifs. Bas-reliefs on the walls depicted nautical scenes including a galleon being sunk by a kraken, and a wreck being smashed by a tempestuous storm. The floor was tiled with tiny pieces of ceramic and formed a mosaic of twin crashing waves.

Suddenly, another Aquatic Bearded Devil formed and attacked Evan David. Tarin swam over to provide assistance and they defeated the Aquatic Bearded Devil. Finding nothing of value in the hall, Evan David and Tarin moved on.

The party then swam past the last cavern and saw a natural cavern that sprouted off from the descending spiral stair about half way down. The cavern was cloaked in shadow, and the water within was murky and warm.

The party peered inside and saw that three Tribute Gatherers were actively battling a cohort of Reef Sharks and Sahuagin Raiders. They joined the battle and were able to gain the upper hand on the Reef Sharks and Sahuagin Raiders, but a Sahuagin Baron joined the battle and attacked!

After a long, pitched battle the party were able to defeat all the Reef Sharks, Sahuagin Raiders, and Sahuagin Baron.

Sensing that the party were friends and not foes the Tribute Gatherers approached the party and thanked them for their assistance and offered them a jeweled conch. The Tribute Gatherers informed the party that this conch was dropped in Umberlee’s Cache in a black chest. The Tribute Gatherers informed the party that this seemed to be what the raiding party was looking for and they felt it was best if the party took the conch and left Umberlee’s Cache.

The party gratefully accepted it and swam back to Waterdeep.

The entire party is awarded an inspiration for retrieving the conch.
