After the party explored the rest of the Storm Maiden’s quarters and poop deck, they spotted the pair of blinking eyes from under the bed. They tried to coax the creature out from under the bed with no success. Finally Evan David just lifted the entire bed revealing a Berbalang.

The Berbalang shared that his name was Oloc and that he was hired by the Githyanki of Flame Fault on Tuern to investigate Sea King Tentrix’s lair. Oloc wasn’t told why to investigate, only to listen for mentions of Tentrix and Purple Rocks. So far Oloc has found out that Tentrix is from Purple Rocks, and that he has a connection to a dark power there. The party invited Oloc to join them as they felt he would be helpful as they explored. Oloc shared that he indeed knew this floor but never ventured below the Mezzanine Level. Oloc shared that the Jolly Roger tavern was the only thing on the Mezzanine level below.

They moved on to explore the quarters to the north west and found that these were the quarters of Desecratus Profanis. These quarters were empty except for an elaborate dias. They emerged into a chamber dimly lit by purple light. Rows of humanoid skulls led up to a dais against the back wall. The dais was made of dark stone and carved with strange, arcane runes. Serpentine forms were engraved into the walls of the cabin, their gaping, fanged maws pointing toward the dais.

Kaelyn examined the dias and unfortunately did not notice the Glyph before touching the dias, summoning a White Abishai. The party was able to quickly defeat the White Abishai but not before the noise summoned a Minatour from the poop deck. The party was able to defeat both guardians of Desecratus Profanis and proceeded to explore the quarters but found no sign of Desecratus Profanis.

Tarin noticed a ridge at the back of the dias and opened it to reveal a hidden compartment that held a black candle, talisman, and spell book. The party climbed up to the poop deck and found nothing besides a Ballista. They destroyed the Ballista and moved on.

The party then explored the quarters to the north east and found the empty quarters of Captain Scummer. They found the quarters to be a luxurious cabin. A decorated curtain depicted a scene of beautiful elves in a pristine garden and sectioned off part of the chamber. Opposite the curtain was a curved, wooden desk and rocking chair.

The party explored the desk and found various papers and maps detailing trade agreements and routes along the Sword Coast. The party searched the drawers in the desk and further found a false bottom in the desk that hid small emeralds, Carrion Crawler Mucus, and three potions of Greater Healing along with 312 gold pieces.

The party continued up to the poop deck and encountered four Lizardfolk and an animated Oaken Bolter construct. The party efficiently killed and disassembled them respectively before disabling the Ballista they found as well.

The party moved on to the last quarters on this level. They unlocked the door and found the lieutenant of Tentrix, Dhurge, seated at the desk carefully polishing a wooden wand. Dhurge was a hulking brute of a sahuagin. The beastly creature had four muscled arms which cradled the wand delicately.

Dhurge lept up and attacked with weapons in all four arms – two swords and two wands. Even with four weapons, Dhurge was no match for the party and they quickly disposed of Dhurge and recovered the Wand of Secrets and Wand of Magic Detection he carried.

The party quickly clambered up the steps to the poop deck and saw that working atop the deck was a gnome with a shock of orange hair. She was bent down low beneath a huge iron tube, belled at one end, and mounted on wheels. As she worked, puffs of smoke puffed up into the air accompanied by pops and cracks that broke through the babble of the crew. Nearby two rough looking fellows were skimming stones off the side of the boat.

The party gave them no time to react and attacked. The quickly disposed of the bandits and the Gnome that they assumed to be the Powder than Captain Callous told them about. The party then destroyed the cannons that they were working on.

They party quickly thought about where Captain Callous could be after he left them shortly after they docked. The party decided to take a short rest before continuing down to the Jolly Roger.

After the short rest, the party descended the steps and found themselves in the middle of a floating pirate bar, The Jolly Roger.

Raucous laughter and the tumbling metre of poorly played instruments filled this balcony. The place is lit by hanging chandeliers filled with dripping candles that cast light down into the hold below.

At one end of the balcony is a recessed bar, where half a dozen humanoids sloshed their grog around in tin mugs. Opposite this is a ragged three-piece band atop a table, who are thrashing out a lusty shanty. A minotaur beat out the staggering rhythm on a battered drum and barreled into a seated goblin, throwing them into the air and over the balustrade. The creature landed with a sickening crunch, and the room erupted in laughter.

Suddenly, all the talking and carousing ceased and the pirates all turned, grabbed their weapons, and shouted “Intruders!”
