The party carefully made their way down the passage and saw light ahead. They stepped out into a subterranean cavern that was under the ocean. Salt water dripped down from the ceiling above even though the ocean had not entered this cavern.

Broad tunnels cut through the rock forming a circuit of subterranean walkways. The enormous cavern smelled damp and ferrous, and the falling of droplets echoes throughout. Hunched figures lurched throughout the cave. The party explored the puddles on the floor and were relieved to find they were only a couple of inches deep.

The party moved forward and saw that the cavern was home to a horde of Gibbering Mouthers. The party strategically moved to form a formation to attack until Evan David moved forward alone and struck the first Gibbering Mouther. Although the Gibbering Mouthers could be formidable, their slow movement made them susceptible to the party’s attacks. Tarin smartly cast spells that also incapacitated much of the horde.

Tarin is granted an inspiration.

After that, the horde of Gibbering Mouthers were dispatched easily and the party move on to explore.

The party moved west and entered another cavern that seemed to be some sort of shrine or temple. Separated from the rest of the caverns by rusted iron bars was an arched chamber from which hundreds of fang-like stalagmites hung. In the centre of the natural stone floor was a deep pit, and in a nearby hollow is a greenstone altar spattered with some unnamable fluid. Atop the altar was an idol made of whalebone.

The party cautiously approached the altar. Galo eventually knocked the idol on the floor and it transformed into an animated creature that resembled a hideous, crouched, tentacled monstrosity with folded, leathery wings that was at once reminiscent of a man, a dragon and a giant squid as it fell down the pit.

Suddenly, the Graven Idol teleported out of the pit right beside Kaelen. With a single swipe of his wings he knocked Kaelen off his feet and sent him tumbling down the pit. Kaelen’s screams echoed as he fell down but there was never a sound of him hitting the bottom.

The party quickly assembled and attacked the Graven Idol seeing the threat for what it was. The Graven Idol cast multiple Demoralizing Beams and struck multiple members of the party. Eventually the party gained control of the battle. Seeing this the Graven Idol cast Gaseous Curse and turned Evan David into a fog that wisped around the battle.

Eventually the Graven Idol was shattered and returned back to its original size. Evan David returned to his normal state and the party left the broken pieces of the idol where they fell.

The party continued to the north and discovered a rickety door to the east, They opened the door and found that it was a dormitory with two acolytes and a warlock with two mangy bunk beds and a wonky table.

The acolytes leapt up to attack and were dealt with swiftly by the party. The Warlock then attacked and provided little more challenge due to the smart planning of Galo by casting Silence.

Galo is awarded an inspiration.

The party searched the room but found nothing of great value and moved on.

The party continued north and entered into another large chamber. A landscape of stalagmites sprouted from the floor, creating a hellscape of stone spears. The party followed the west wall and followed it to what looked to be another passage continuing north.

Just as they were crossing the last few metres to the passage, two Urophions emerged from behind a stalagmite and attacked! The Urophions were also slow and simple and were easily defeated by the party,

The party then decided to continue down the passage and entered a chamber with a deep pool of stagnant water. The chamber reeked of rotting shellfish and the pool was cloudy with some fibrous sediment. Every few seconds a salty drop fell from the ceiling sending ripples across the pool.

The party stopped to decide what to do next,
