The fellowship journeyed forth to Dol Guldur after resting in the cabin. When they reached Dol Guldur they discovered a single door made of Mother of Pearl with no inscriptions. The party looked for any sign of a keyhole or secret door but found none.
The Party soon discovered that the door was sentient and was in a foul mood. The door soon hurled various insults at the party:
- ‘You buffoon, you will never pass’
- ‘Especially the short, short, little dwarf’
- ‘You really are not that bright are you?’
The fellowship tried to bribe the door witha number of gold pieces. The door simply responded:
- ‘It is not that easy’
Then the fellowship resorted to pleading and asking the door to please open. The door was silent and did not respond.
The door then insulted the party saying that they were all quite dumb and not bright at all.
Jesoc honestly responded and acknowledged that he isn’t bright at all.
The door responded saying ‘fair enough’ and the door swung open.
The party entered and were struck with the immediate stench of Orcs. The first rooms they encountered were storage rooms filled with Orc rations and a dining room with foul Orc food. They continued on and discovered the barracks of a platoon of Orcs. The battle ensued and the Orcs called out for their commanders Grok and Bolg to assist. The fellowship was able to easily defeat the Orcs lead by Arbun’s deft one-shot that cleaved an Orc War Chief’s head clean off. The fellowship searched the bodies and continued to explore after finding nothing of value.
The fellowship then discovered a filthy wash basin that smelt of Orc sweat. The party smartly moved on and then discovered two sparring rooms that were currently empty.
Finally the party listened at the next door and could hear some movement inside. They carefully opened the door and found an Orc War Chief sitting back in a chair. The Orc war chief introduced himself as Thrakzul Ironfist.
Thrakzul inquired to what they were doing here. After the party informed Thrakzul that they were here for Ninque, Thrakzul shared he was tired and he cared not for what they do. Thrakzul warned the party that the bridge was greased. The party tried to decipher if Thrakzeul was being deceptive, but Thrakzul honestly couldn’t care what they did.
The party eventually took their leave and found that the bridge was indeed greased. They carefully made they was across and opened a stone door into the first room.
The fellowship discovered a Roper inhabited this room devouring rocks that surrounded him. The party attacked the Roper and was able to defeat him but not before they discovered what a formidable foe a Roper is. After searching the rocks and finding nothing, the party exited east and climbed the stairs to another chamber with two more Ropers again surrounded by rocks.
This time the party decided to see if they could pass by the Ropers without engaging in battle. Jesoc noticed a large Onyx statue of Thuringwethil as they walked by. The Ropers continued to eat the rocks that surrounded them and the party exited to the north with a sigh.
The party then entered into a quarry room. They could now see where the rocks where coming from. In the centre of the room there was a large pit that was dug and a Troll Hag was at the bottom of the pit looking through the rocks for something. The fellowship then moved to attack the Troll Hag. Although she was also a formidable opponent, the fellowship was able to defeat her.
The party searched the pit for rocks but found nothing of value. It remained unclear as to what the Troll Hag was searching for. The party noticed that there was another statue here but it was broken and left in ruins.
The fellowship paused to determine where to explore next.
